Myth of Human Body
Tuesday, September 13, 2005

Hmm.. a rather weird topic aight? Yeap, i agree... even so, i decided to put it up.. All this has been squiggling in my head for quite awhile.. before i could freely type it out without the anxiety to worry bout my assignments and all.. (though there's still 1 more.. due on this friday.. grr...)
Anyway, yep, today's lesson is about how wonderful our human body is(Jason and Joel if you are reading this, please stick to the decent and general path of perception) and some myths behind it (this might eventually get a lil bit philosiphical.. so if u cant bear deep thoughts, turn away now)

The myth of the exiled soul presents an important problem of interpretation for the Adamic myth (Adam and Eve, that Adam). For the myth of the exiled soul is the only one that divides man up metaphysically into two irreconcilable realities: soul and body. It is the only mythic anthropology that is metaphysically dualistic (Yes, i do read those stuffs.. i am boring i know). It deals with the externality of evil seduction by assimilating it to the body which becomes the symbol of evil seduction: the body symbolizes everything that happens to me without "me" doing it (getting deeper...). The body becomes the symbol of the involuntary as the focus of the resistance which the passions create impeding the free exercise of our will. In the Adamic myth the serpent (or snake) symbolizes the seductivity of the non-human world, while in the myth of the exiled soul the body symbolizes the seductivity of the human world, for the body is somehow part of man himself even though an involuntary part (and deeper....).

The myth of the exiled soul presents man as a mixture of passions or desires. The body serves as an internal symbol of the external and as the positivity of evil seduction. This inner dualism and alienation of soul and body is unique to the myth of the exiled soul. In the myth, man is divided in his essential being, In his earthly existence he forgets his original state and becomes imprisoned, in the passions of the body. The myth has ancient roots and is reminiscent of archaic Hinduism. Later Platonic philosophy modifies the myth by placing human deliverance in a special kind of knowledge. In the myth the body becomes the symbol of felt conflicts from which a man can escape only by returning to his true inner nature: the soul. Human life on earth is experienced as intrinsically evil and man's only salvation is a spiritual purification by special knowledge.

Alright... enough on the intellectual babbling... To sum up, in one sentence, human body is evil in one sense when it involved with sensation and temptation... As simple as that..

I am not.. exactly a fanatic or extremist in regards of the view on human body or whatsoever.. i just felt that.. to certain extend.. it could be interpreted in that way... However, one of the reasons why i came up with this post.. isnt to bore you guys with loadful of info or simply just wanna amuse myself with weird stuffs.. it's becoz i recently just bought a poster.. like this
*point below

yes.. i know i m freaking weird.. you can call the police now..

Haha... somehow i just felt that it's amusing to keep a poster like that in my room.. eventhough i m not goin to be a sport/health/neuro/muscular/whatever psychologist that has any relation with that.. i just.. find it cool.. to keep one in your room

Dont you think this corner of my room looks more like a stereotypical psycho-geek room?

I am not crazy yet, or any where close to that.. so mom and dad, please dont worry, i wont be a serial killer that inspired to keep human body parts as a collection or so.. (*smirk... hehe)
Back to the topic, by sticking up a poster like that in your room, not only will make your room looks smarter, cooler, or even spookier, it helps to raise your scientific knowledge in terms of body parts, and whenever any part of your body is aching.. you can refer to that spot with names!! not just like.. there la. .here la.. say bye bye to those ape-like days man..
We human, must communicate in human-like manners, speak in human-ly language, and describe our body symptoms with "terms" and scientific "names"... We can't always communicate merely with hand-signals in terms of illustration of pain or so anymore..

Therefore, starting from today.. am gonna refer the parts of my body that gave me problems with the given scientific terms... I felt that.. my trapezus and superficial fascia is getting tighter and stiffer.. i guess it's time to loosen up my latissimus dorsi for awhile and rest my splenius capitis at the same time by sleeping.. so ciao!!
